Unified comms 'still emerging'

The uptake of unified communications strategies is still in the "early adopter" phase, according to a new report. Despite the growth in popularity of unified communications deployments, the Datamonitor study states that currently, the majority of business opting for converged services are those at the forefront of technological developments The survey predicts that converged strategies will begin to take off in the mainstream as mobile functionality and remote working continues to become a more integral part of business communications. Datamonitor also suggests that green IT practices will also support the market, with many businesses looking to reduce emissions with unified communications deployments. As this begins to happen, the study predicts that vendors will begin to target the expanding market, taking unified communications to the next phase of market outreach. Gartner has also recently predicted that companies will begin to auditing practices to maintain preferred supplier status as consumers become more concerned with environmental sustainability.
