Unified communications 'providing many benefits'

Unified communications strategies can both reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction levels, according to British businesses.

Customer Strategy reports a study conducted by Dimension Data found 62 per cent of IT managers in UK-based enterprise-sized organisations now view unified communications as an important part of their IT and business telecoms setups.

Almost half of those quizzed were able to identify business benefits from implementing such systems, with improved customer satisfaction levels, a cut in the amount of time wasted by workers and cost savings among the most common impacts.

Mike Robinson, partner services account manager at Data Dimension, told the news provider that although unified communications is still a young technology, businesses can already expect to see many benefits from it.

"Even the bottom line is feeling a positive impact: one business reported a 15 per cent increase in revenues as a result of unifying their communications," he added.

Light Reading recently reported that companies which utilise managed unified communications services are less likely to fall victim to hackers, as service providers often deploy security measures more effectively.
